week twenty

Feeling vain? Want to disabuse yourself of the notion that you are a beautiful, serene Mother Earth incarnate?

Ask your six year old to draw a picture of what you look like to them right at this moment.

Go on. Do it.

And then remind yourself that the resulting picture was drawn in love.

This week’s OB appointment was uneventful (yay!). The ultrasound results were good. Baby is growing well (three days ahead) and looking good.

I’m finding these drive-by appointments to be so refreshing. So much better than the hour long appointments that marked the majority of my pregnancy with Kaleb. No stress tests. No Procardia prescription refills. No counting contractions and worrying about pre-term dilation. No real complaints to report (besides the fact that most days I feel like my hip is trying to literally separate itself from my body. But I guess that is fairly normal).

Just blissful sounds of baby’s heartbeat, Dr. Castillo cracking a few jokes and then we’re off on our merry way.

Baby has been a lot more chill this week than previously. Although that could have alot to do with the fact that I’m not gorging myself on every sweet treat in the house. Eating sugary, tasty treats = feeling like a human bounce house, FYI.

We’re working hard to keep Kaleb interested in Baby and becoming a big brother. He’s so used to being The One and Only in the family that I’m sure we’re in for a major adjustment period. So far, so good.

His Tia Chela was awesome and bought a copy of My New Baby and Me: A First Year Record Book for Big Brothers and Sisters for him. Super cute book. And I’m almost positive that Kaleb will be more diligent in filling it out than I will be in filling out the yet-to-be-purchased baby book that I’ll be responsible for.

We’re also letting him in on the naming process which has been totally hilarious. His picks have been interesting. Very interesting.

Bumblebee Kammerzell? Yeah, I can just picture the high school diploma sitting on my entertainment center. I guess its more creative than Cat or Dog which were some of his early suggestions.
