I was paired with Ashley of My Little Sunshine. From the quick bio I received on her, I decided to craft something keeping her love of the colors mint green, gray and mustard yellow in mind. I’ve been on a crocheting kick lately and decided that a crocheted gift was what I wanted to give.
Coupons in hand (to stick to the $5 limit), I took a trip to Michael’s and browsed for awhile until I found soft, fluffy yarn in the colors I was looking for. When I got home, I started on Ashley’s gift, got half an hour into it and totally changed direction. It was mentioned that she’s a fan of coffee and while I was sitting with my very hot mug of coffee, trying to remember where I put the cup towel I usually put down under my mugs, I was hit with the idea to make coffee mug coasters.
I found an awesome pattern on Ravelry. It was easy to read and the coasters worked up quickly. I made a set of four: yellow, gray, white and green. The hook I used was larger than what the pattern called for just in case Ashley is at all like me and likes over-sized coffee mugs.
It was so much fun participating in the craft swap and I especially enjoyed working with this particular pattern. I’m pretty sure I’ll be making a set of mug coasters for myself (and a few friends too).
